Tomorrow the car goes for a professional detail, and they're going to buff out all the light scratches all over the car (including door handles), and also get rid of a couple of the rock chips and scuffs in the bumper.
thursday morning the car goes for a 8mm 3M clear bra. hood, mirrors, upper and lower bumper. anything you see when you look at the car from the front  i'm excited.
also, my lingenfelter intake arrives later this week, as well as the radar detector system...
the MODs have officially started |

Make sure they buff the car with an Orbital buffer, not a high-speed (rotary) buffer. There's probably 100 guys on the planet that can use a high-speed without swirling the crap out of your car (if that many). The last thing you want to do is shave the majority of your clear off, only to have what little remains look like a hologram in the sun.
Trust me on this: Tell them to use an Orbital or GTFO.

I spent 3 hours buffing mine with the variable speed buffer, hard as hell but looks great. |

I do mine every six months with my Griot's Orbital. Takes about 3 or 4 hours and removes all swirls, but their pads and compound are so gentle that it's not even strong enough to take off some bug guts I missed when washing. Orbitals are great because they're idiot proof, whereas a rotary can F your paint with one slip of the hand. They'll cover the swirls and burns with wax and make it look great, but 2 or 3 months later it'll look like hell. |

Do you really need to do the mirrors?? I am not sure I have seen chips or scratches on my mirror housings??? |

$650 including head and foglights. may not be the BEST deal around, but these guys have a good reputation (according to the guys on the Corvette forums), and their office is literally 2 minutes away (across the beltway from where my office is)

32.5K miles on my car and I don't have any chips on the mirrors. Oh wait, I have Clear Bra on them... 
One of the first "Mods" I recommend a new owner get before anything else, if they plan on keeping it. My front end would look like shotgun hell right now if it didn't have it. |

yeah i had a couple of rock chips and such. it's in the body shop right now getting those filled and touched up before the bra goes on |
