Jeez, nine pages (oops, now 10) on a key fob. Imagine what you guys could have come up with V performance-wise with all this effort.

Will this make my V perform better? Last longer? Increase reliability/comfort?

Never mind. I know the answer.

My stock V performs more than well enough for me, thank you very much. I can understand why they want a different key fob. I would still like a Lexus style all-in-one key remote. Of course, I am sure after a few years from now, everything will be pushbutton start anyway. Hell, they can just start imbedding chips in our hands, then we won't even need keys anymore.

There's no excuse for a $50k to share the same keyfob as a Chevy Cobalt.

OK, I spoke with BMJ molding and there is no chance in hell this could happen.

First of all, permisson from Delphi would need to be obtained to use their interior mold that could retain the old rubber push button keys and internal structure. Which I am sure would have to be licensed($$$)

Secondly the two outer molds, which would have to be tooled which would cost about 25k.

And finally, the production runs start in the thousands.

Soooo.... long story short, sorry gents, unless someone has a injection molder and the pretooled molds at their house we are out of luck.

Good idea though. I think we would be better off trying to jimmy rig one of the current ofbs to work for us.

That is because they are an American company. I have been talking with a Chinese sourcing company. I dont know exact costs, but my company had some keychains made a few years ago, Plastic housing, electronic clock inside, metal chain and keyring clip. I believe they were somewhere on the order of $5 each, and the tooling and setup were somewhere a little bit north of $10k. We got a couple thousand of them. The setup costs would be much lower for this application, just two molds, front and back would have to be made. Which would be, I am guessing around $5k. But the minimum qty would be 5000 pcs of each, front and back. We would not have to worry about Delphi's permission, because we would be making a completely new mold. The only issue would be putting the Cadillac logos on for copyright infringement. That is why I was thinking adhesive emblems to be applied by the end user.

It still is not going to happen, at least by me. I just don't have the capitol for it. And I AM NOT going to do prepayment. I do not believe in that.

So let me know what you guys think.

    I would like 2 also...

I can't speak for that one, but the flip key that came with my sis's RX-8 is really nice.

Same thing with the 08 Remotes.
They are so oversized, I don't see what all the fuss is about.

ONLY problem i have is the "generic" nature of our remotes. GM uses (or... used) them from the lowest end model all the way through $100,000+ cadillacs.
