Well, this is just a first draft. But it shows the design idea I am thinking of. I am very open to suggestions. I still have alot of details to iron out. Like making sure the existing button pad will fit, and of course finding out if it is financially feasible. I do have a source in Shanghai.
I was thinking soft touch plastic on the black part, and probably some gloss plastic for the silver part (or that may be soft touch plastic too) I think metal would be too costly. But I will check on that too.
Getting bigger and smaller is not something I am really familiar with anymore Tony.
My only concern is if it's made from plastic the top may break at the sharp corners. If you decide to go all plastic then I would like to see it a bit thicker at the top where it connects to the key chain.
I still want to stress I really like the design and I am in no way try to butcher your design.
That's cool. Like I said, that is a very rough concept. That only took me a couple hours. If my China source sounds positive, then I will invest more time in the design. I am not going to put a lot of time into it though until I know if it is feasible.
I don't know about you guys, but 'less RF performance' is definitely not what I need. This car is the worst I've had at picking up keyfob signals. I almost have to walk right up next to the car before it'll take an unlock signal. Any further reduction in RF performance might mean that all the doors will already have to be open for an unlock signal to penetrate.
My carbon footprint is huge.
