Cig Relay / Switched Power for 2007 V?

I'm trying to install a smart cord for an escort 8500 radar detector. The hardwired smart cord will allow the detector to be attached to the windshield, but keep the display dark at night so people behind do not see the unit. The remote button allows you to "mute" the alarms without having to reach up to the unit.

The FAQ indicates that the relay / cig feed combo does NOT work for an 07 V. However searching the forums it seems that it "might" have worked for some.

Can anyone with an '07 V report if they have tried this and whether or not it worked?

Thanks,

Small brown wire on the climate control harness is a switched 12v. Used it for my boost gauge, A/F gauge, and exhaust cut out switch. Its in the same area and pretty easy to just use a line tap into... Hope that helps!

This and your other reply should do the trick. I'm going to see if anyone has been lucky with an 07' Cig relay install to make the lighters switched.

Thanks again,
Tom
