I actually started feeling kind of bad honestly. While these are expensive cars and the feeling is that they SHOULD be perfect it can't all be bad right? Does anyone here have a car with only minor problems or nothing wrong at all? Does anyone have a lot of trouble free miles? Do you even LIKE your V? They are specialty cars of sorts so I expected some compromise and nothilng like a Corolla, but it seems like eveyone is always talking about how their cars are always in the shop. It's freaking me out a little. V-lovers...are you here? |

It is always like that in forums, only problems, no one writes when thay happy.
I lives in Sweden. Everybody that say´s Mercedes, Saab and Volvo is better than Cadillac should do there homework better. |

I drove it Sunday and marveled how smooth it shifted, absolutely no rattles or driveline issues, no leaks, my nav buttons sparkle, my wife loves it and I ain't selling it! |

Mine is a very early '05, built 5/27/04 with 16K miles - absolutely no problems, no rattles, no clunks, shifts smooth, no buttons flaking and, to top it off, I have a great dealer! My only minus with the car is that I went through the original F-1 run-flats in 9,800 miles but that was taken care of by Goodyear with their $200.00 credit per tire on a set of RS-A runflats. The car is everything I hoped it would be. Don't plan on getting rid of it until I can't drive a stick shift anymore. I've never had so many positive comments on any car I've owned (and I've owned a lot of them.)
Keep the positives coming - I know there are a lot of us out there! |

Internet forums represent the vocal minority. There are fewer than 1000 registered V's here, and over 12,000 of them on the road. I'd bet that over 75% of those people are driving around and enjoying the car, as opposed to nitpicking every TSB and recall like we do here.
As for me, I've had some problems but they're nothing compared to what owners of Ferraris deal with ($10,000 for a timing belt and valve job every two years??!!), so I could care less. Not only can I spank any car on the road except a Viper or Z06, but I get tons of comments at stoplights and gas stations about how sweet my car is.
I'm thrilled to own this car, and wouldn't sell it given the chance. We had a customer the other day looking for a used V, and one of the Salesman asked me if I'd sell him mine- I said, "No thanks."

Couple of glitches here, otherwise my car is fantastic. Wife says I have to keep it ... can't get another one.
Ain't that a kick?

I would consider the few issues I've had (leaking diff, sail panel, battery charging issues) to be minor. Of course the diff could turn into a bigger one, but I don't care if it leaks the entire time I own it, as long as it doesn't break. This is my favorite car of all that I've owned and I get tons of compliments on it. And I still look for any excuse I can just to get out and drive it every day. |

I've got 30K miles on mine and I love it! A buddy just got a TL Type S and I saw it last night for the first time. It's nice and has lots of fun toys, but I wouldn't even consider trading my V for it! Other than a sports car, it's my favorite car I've owned! |

When I first lurked this site I sometimes came away with buyers remorse. This thread is long past due. The V is still a world class performance car for a price considerably less than it's competition. There is a certain eliteist attitude in the world of top shelf sport sedans. We get defensive about our cars. Cadillac has a legitimate product in the V. I never feel the need to apologize for the cars' interior or it's single cam 2 valve engine, because it proves that's not the total defining value factor anymore. It's walking the talk that counts, and the V does it. |

| | Cadillac Owners Fanatic Cadillac(s): Cadillac | | | | | Re: No Problems Or Minor Ones...? I've had a ton of cars, but none of them have I gotten so attached to so quickly. I really hope this car does me right over the long haul. The maintenance costs seem to be reasonable, so far the customer service is great, and it feels good to be a young guy on the west coast not driving a foreign car. It's highly unusual and something just feels...right...about it. Yeah it has a an occasional rattle (I'm really surprised it doesn't rattle more with the suspension that is this TAUGHT and athletic), and the subframe bushings groan (I should just get Spectre's because the GM "fix" still allows wheel hop), but when I give the "skinny pedal" some leg merge onto the freeway in second...I feel like a superhero (yes...I am that corny). No one needs a car this fast. And the resale isn't THAT bad. It tanks the first 2 years like anything else, and then holds. My Subaru lost 10k the first year too. And talk to BMW 7-series owners or S-class drivers. Just troll some other forums and you'll see.
Examples:
My Mazda RX-8 had horrible wheel hop and always seemed like this turn of the key might be its last (Loved that car though)
VW GTI - rattled like a plastic tuperware container full of leggos and had a sunroof that would open on its own (will never buy another one).
Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT - Well...customer service, a radio that changed volume on its own and surgy, whoopsy-daisy power delivery, and a clutch that would glaze even when the car was idling were enough to convince me that 30K could be better spent somwhere else.
And don't think BMW guys don't have problems. 335is are popping engines because of oil temps in the 290-300 range just..and that is just sitting in traffic, and fuel pumps are leaving folks stranded. And iDrive freezes can leave sub systems of the cars inopperable. I know. In a former life I had a 545i. Just food for thought.
Anyway...more good. Any more silver linings? |

Racked up over a 1100 miles in the past 3 days, averaging 22 mpg (and I hate having anyone in front of me ) The 'V' just keeps running along. Except for the sail panels, I've never had ANY warranty work done. Never used a drop of oil b/t changes. And I have no idea what the 'clunk' is that some guys mention. No rattles. Original battery. Original radiator. And if the diff whines... I can't hear it over the B&B exhaust. I also think Cadillac has the best climate control system of any car out there.
Now wearing out tires... I'd rather not talk about that (said with sheepish look on his face).
