Dealership buyback.

Remove this ad
Is this a Crock or no

I just openend my mail and found a letter from a nearby Cadillac dealer claiming:
"As General Manager of ____ Cadillac, I am making a personal appeal to purchase your vehicle. Because of a unique wholesale market condition, I have allocated additional funds and I am now in the position of being able to offer you over book value for your vehicle - whether you trade it in or I purchase it outright. My dilemma simply means that right now your vehicle is worth more than it was last month. Here's Why:" Follows this long spill about Auctions and Katrina damaged vehicles

Bossplayer did you get this letter?
I love my V but for the right price, I'll say bye-bye
I'm going to call this guy tomorrow. I was going to go to the dealer anyway to get tires mounted. I'm going to find out just how bad they want a 2006 V.

Re: Dealership buyback.

The crock-o-meter is pegged. It's just a "reel 'em in and sell 'em" letter.

Re: Dealership buyback.

Well, I flew out to Minnesota to get my V, but I received a similar letter. I dont remember the exact wording but it wasn't nearly as strong as yours.

I think it is a reel em in letter that has a side effect of instilling confidence that you made a great deal with them. If I were you I would ask what they would offer, no small talk, then just brush em off and laugh a little when they offer you less than what you bought it for.

I am about 97% sure this is the way it will be. But if you are in the neighborhood and know how to handle sales people, why not check?

Re: Dealership buyback.

No, it's absolutely true. What they fail to mention is that this is only good on a trade-in and they will turn you around, grab your hips, pull down your pants, bend you over and give you the HBI.

Also, note that they don't specify WHICH book, then they whip out their hand-written "There's One Born Every Minute" journal for accurate pricing on your vehicle.

Re: Dealership buyback.

That's one of my least favorite form letters for "special events". I've always been partial to the

Finace rates as low as 0% APR!!!, myself...

Total and utter B.S., yet people continue to fall for it.

Re: Dealership buyback.

My letter was from the Service Manager. It said he was in a unique position to ask me to NEVER by a Cadillac product again. Bastard hurt my feelings. I mean, if like, I had any feelings.

Re: Dealership buyback.

Honestly, this is a standard bullshit salesman letter....he is just trying to get you into the dealership to sell you a new/another car...this ploy has been used for years to generate leads....trash the letter

Re: Dealership buyback.

it's not fishy. it's genius marketing. it's just their attempt to bring you into the dealership to buy a new car.

lots of dealerships do it. they send those out to all of their customers in their data base with cars that are of a certain year or younger.

worked on you.

On another note, just got back in from the mailbox and I got the same letter. LAMEO. Let me know how much they offer, or else I will do it and let you know.
