I just dropped my car off at Lindsay, for service. I have the exact same issue. I'll let you know what they tell me.
I'll be out of town untill 05-15, so I don't expect to get my car back until at least then. I also may not be around to update. I will if I can.
Thanks,
Chris

Since your going to be in SF anyways, why not drop by.

Thanks, but I meant the following week, the 16th thru the 19th. Otherwise, I'd love to be there. Going with my wife and young son (4-1/2 yrs) to visit my stepson in Mountain View. He's at Google.
You guys ARE going to post pics ... ?!! |

You have a good dealer and know where to find me to ask about Don Gooley if needed. They have been great to me. |

The bad thing about an oil leak is it could be coming from any point forward/above where you see it.
Valve covers, intake manifold, etc............

But i'm not too worried about it yet. (Theres a square hole on the tran to let any water out if it had water in it.) But i'm sure its either trans fluid or motor oil. Rear main seal. I would clean it good and then watch where it comes from so you know. But if its under warrantty that bring it in. |

Randy, I did an extensive search of that problem and discovered that when the ambient temperatures are at or near 0 Centigrade (32F) during those long cold Michigan winters, the rear seals in the LS6 engine shrink just enough to allow some seepage. Once the path has opened, the only solution is to relocate the device to Arizona where that never happens.
PS Miss you guys. |

Dealer says it's "controlled seepage."
Is that the opposite of the uncontrolled type teenage guys have? |

I had my lifter at my mechanics the other day checkout the linkage for a shifter from the bottom side. And we were looking at the rear end. We noticed some oil moisture under there. Well long story short. The dealer told me that they had to put a extension on one of the hoses. I will have to check the service record for the exact terms but it was no big deal.

I'm just guessing here...... A real long shot...... But when you added the headers did you remove the dipstick tube? Not sure, but i think??? There is a very small O-ring that fits in there where the tube mates with the engine block. Perhaps you can get a flashlight up under there and take a good look to see if that is the source. |

The only problem is that when I went to put that bugger back in, I couldn't see ANYTHING up there flashlight or no flashlight.
VERY plausible explanation. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
