    Another Tire Thread

I went to goodyear to see what they would do about my tires. I have 12,100 miles on them and they are junk. They got back to me this morning and gave me two options. I can get the RS-A EMT's for $140.00 per tire or the GS-D3's for free. Plus I have to pay mounting and balancing.

I went for the free tires.

I enjoyed the GSD3's when they were new...but after a while, they start to get flat spots really easy....I then hated them...if you use your car everyday it shouldn't be too bad.

    Don't forget they are squirely.

But they are great in the rain.

I have a question about sizes. Should I go with the stock size or should I get 245/45ZR18's for the front and 275/40ZR18's for the rear? They are .1" different in height so they should work together.

I had the stagered setup with GSD3's. that will definately make is feel more squirely, but worth it in my opinion. The rear sidewalls will bulge a bit, but not too much. FWIW the GSD3's are BIG tires, much bigger than other tires in the exact same size. If they fit, any 275's will fit.

I went to 245/40/R18 - 275/35/R18 Falken Azenis RT615's, this time around. Much nicer overall tire than the GSD3's IMHO.

Put again, you can't argue with that price.

    Re: Another Tire Thread

Tire Rack has a $40 rebate promotion with the GS-D3s (when you buy 4). They are finally back in stock in our stock size.

I'm of course still waiting for my local Goodyear dealer to get a set of GS-D3s I've been waiting for to replace my F1 runflat under the customer service replacement deal.

Goodyear produced 1000 GS-D3s (stock size) in their Germany plant back in mid-March, and I'm still waiting for them to get into the Goodyear "system".
I've got so many cords showing in my F1s, there's getting to be as much white as black on my treads.

    Re: Another Tire Thread

I ended up sticking with the same size all around. I figure I can rotate them this way so they may last a little longer. They are being installed today. They didn't mention anything about them not being in the "system".

    Re: Another Tire Thread

So right after posting this I get a call from the Goodyear shop, they ordered the wrong size tires. They got in 255/45r18 and the local warehouse doesn't have the stock size in stock. So they are ordering them directly from Goodyear. He said it will take 2-3 days to get them in.

    Re: Another Tire Thread

Anyone know if the 255's will fit on the front? Should I just go with these tires?

HRM, not sure. GSD3's are just BIG tires. There probabaly a pretty good chance you'd rub, especially if the are 255/45's.

I will digress to those with personall experience with 255 GSD3's out front.
