Actually, Ted's information is not correct. I upgraded my '04 to full digital and it works great.

    ewill3rd -

The reason I say this is a nightmare for OnStar users created by GM is because GM took so long to add digital service to OnStar and didn't install tranceivers that could operate with digital service in all models until 2006. I have had a cell phone that operated with both digital and analog service for the past six years. In my opinion, GM was too slow to accomodate digital service.

    The Tony Show -

Sorry, I have no axes to grind. Speak for yourself, not other people.

Now, you can specify what about my information is incorrect. It is not clear how the fact that you upgraded to digital has anything to do with my information.

Oh, please. I don't have to speak for you- Every post you've made about the OnStar upgrade has a severely negative tone. My Onstar has worked perfectly, and I recently upgraded to digital so as not to lose service at the switchover and gained better Voice-Recognition in the process. The $15 upgrade was very generous of GM and OnStar, and the procedure was handled smoothly by my dealership. What the hell more can you ask for?

The whole "Ooh, GM was too slow to incorporate Digital" argument is retarded. The Analog network has been fully supported the entire time these cars were being sold (and still is). Read the official reason why here if you'd like:

When technology changes, it is almost ALWAYS the consumers responsibility to pay full price to upgrade, not the supplier of the now outdated product. If I buy a Dell computer and then 2 years later they come out with a model with a better graphics card, do you think they'd give me the new card (installed) for $15? Hell no.

GM and OnStar have handled this with aplomb, so I don't see the need for this thread to even exist. Al this information was already discussed

    HERE

If it bothers you that much, sell the V and buy a Mercedes or BMW with Digital OnStar. Oh wait- they don't even offer it in the first place.....

Not too long ago, I wanted to upgrade to digital Onstar in my '04 and the dealer was going to charge me about 500 bucks IIRC. I think the 15 bucks plus year contract is quite fair compared to what it would have cost me before.

They were originally requiring a 3 year commitment to OnStar, but changed it to one.

Thanks for answering my questions, just wanted to understand what you meant.
Not that I agree entirely but I see your point.
