    Unhappy Sold 2005 CTS-V Waiting for 200?

    In January I sold My Black/Black 2005 CTS-V Sadly with 1,800 miles.

Leased a 2007 Lincoln Mark LT for two years. When the new model CTS-V comes out,be it 2008 or 2009 I`m hoping all the bugs are fixed, and the Horsepower is closer to 600. That`s when I`ll purchase the new V. Would like to be kept informed as to Specs. and ETA for the new Model.
    Thanks Guys, Jim aka doc170

You may not own another one then. IMO we'll be lucky if they give it 500HP, hopefully so. But near 600HP I think is unrealistic. ETA will probably be about 17 months from now.

Well The M5 and M6 are up in the 500+ range, MB & Audi will be up near 600,so if Cadillac is 17 months away 600HP could be a reality.

If Cadillac wants to stay in this game (luxury sports sedan game, that is), they know what they have to do. Anything under 500HP and they will not move many units. Anything over 550HP and they will steal most of the competition away.

My bet goes to them staying behind the game with less than 500HP, which is going to suck, but will most likely be the reality.

The M5, M6, MB, and Audi in the 500HP range are not even close to 60K dollar cars. Tell Cadillac to build you a V for 80K and they may make your dream come true.

My Friend, when Cadillac in 2004 came out with the V, they were after the M5, for a reasonable price of under $50,000. My son bought his First M5 new in 2002 for around $75,000, when he road tested the CTS-V with me before I bought it in 2005,he said I never thought I`d say this but the V is as good as my M5. Now you tell me Cadillac can`t do it again for under $100,000 to compete with the M5 and M6. Sorry but I think you are wrong. I`m sure if Cadillac wanted to, they can do it for mid $50,000.

    Re: Sold 2005 CTS-V Waiting for 200?

600hp from Cadillac for 50K ? Even 500HP from Cadillac for 50K ? I would have to say no. They produce 400HP for 53K and 469HP from Cadillac will cost 77K right now (retail sticker). There's simply no way they are going to produce an 09 model car (possible year of the redesigned V) in a new body with more HP for equal or less money.

When the 04 V was released the M5 wasn't 500HP like it is now. Cadillac came to the table a little late to compete with the M5 because BMW redesigned it the next year and changed the competitor. However a new M5 is 30-35K more dollars than a V and an individual could buy and modify a V to have more HP and be quicker than a stock M5 and still have money in the bank to buy replacement diffs and beer.

My personal opinion is still any new V will be closer to the 60K mark with a gas guzzler tax of 2K. Hopefully with at least 500HP, or once again they will be coming to the table lagging the competiton who are due to also release more powerful models for 09-10.

    Hey
I like your thinking, but I never thought they would bring out a 600HP V, I was thinking more the 500 to 510 V for under $60,000, That could be an easy reality for Cadillac. The 2008 CTS is already restyled a few touches here and there, up the horsepower and you have the 2008 or 2009 CTS-V. I did say 600HP but was only dreaming, I`ll take the 500 or 500+ HP.

    Re: Sold 2005 CTS-V Waiting for 200?

Our "guess" (hope) right now is 500 HP for 09. But IMO we are looking at 60-65K for the car. Even if it's 60K, there's bound to be a 2-3K Gas Guzzler tax on it, so a 60K car becomes a 63K car just like that.

Does One Pay A Gas Guzzler Tax When Leasing?? When I Bought My 2005 V, I Paid It,but Two Of My Friends That Bought And Leased The 2006 V Didn`t Pay A Gas Guzzler Tax. I`v Heard That People That Bought The 2004 V,didn`t Pay That Tax Either.

Gas guzzler tax is paid whether leased or not, but there was no gas guzzler tax on the 06 V.

    04 and 06 didn't have it, 05 and 07 did/do.

Odds are if they produce a 500HP CTS-V it will.

Wouldn`t $60,000 + Put the V in the high end Corvette class? America`s Sports Car vs the American Sedan CTS-V??

1,800 miles??? And I thought I had some garage queens. Are you sure that wasn't 18,000?
