Question Power limitations

Remove this ad
Good day all,

I have a question in regards to the drivetrain of the CTS-v...

What is the power limitations on the manual transmission and driveshaft for a "New" 2005 CTS-v?

I askin for the suggested torque limit is 400lbft...And the engine puts out 395lbft...I cant even do squat with out breaking that limit...

I am looking for a target of 490hp and 450lbft at the wheel....And for sure i dont want to overload the driveshaft, been there done that....

Re: Power limitations

A '05 V drivetrain can handle that power. The weakest link in the driveline is the differential & mine has been holding up okay for many miles now and while I'm short on your desired rwhp, I'm over your rwtq desires.

Luna,

Thank you for your reply...But you have me wonderin, you have stock drivetrain, and its holding up? IE clutch, transmission, and driveshaft...

If so, wow...thats a lot of power it can hold, and why would GM do a stupid thing like this...Seriously there should always be at least 25-30% safety margin in the usable Torque...Thus givin us the enjoyable breathing space for Mods...

If not, then where did you get the stuff from?
