Got the OK from the Dealer!

Remove this ad
Alright, so I was at the dealership today shooting the shit with the service manager while they were putting in my THIRD navigation radio (paint peeling on buttons) and got the OK to do a CAI,Headers,Cats,Exhaust. I want to get all this done this summer while I am studying abroad in Italy. I have two questions for everyone.

1. What is the best MOST COST EFFECTIVE setup for these mods?

2. I am in the Northwest Indiana area and I need a shop that will do the work and not break the bank. I know EPP is in Fort Wayne, but I hear they are expensive, any insight?

Re: Got the OK from the Dealer!

The most cost effective is:

1. Get in on a group buy or buy used.

2. Do the work yourself.

Re: Got the OK from the Dealer!

If by "most cost effective" you mean "cheapest", then a Lingenfelter CAI, TPiS headers and Magnaflow exhaust are your best bet.

If you want "value", meaning the best product for your money, I'd recommend Lingenfelter CAI, Kooks headers and Corsa exhaust. I have this setup (minus the Kooks which are on backorder), and it is fantastic. I know the Kooks are going to be great, as many forum members have them.

I would do the work myself, but like I said I will be in Italy for the summer.

Re: Got the OK from the Dealer!

I am personally a fan of the Billy Boat and K&N CAI all "pre owned" lol. It just sounds better than used Though there is one flaw with my favs. No Kooks connection for the Billy Boat exhaust but you can always get BB 's headers.

Cold air intake = waste of money. OTR if possible would be worth the money.....

It doesn't take all summer to do it!

You could do this stuff in a weekend.

Not trying to thread jack but has anyone even tried to build a CAI OTR yet? Or is it just not feasible?

Re: Got the OK from the Dealer!

someone claimed to on the ls1tech board. but considering he didnt post a slew of pictures and make his claim to fame....I DONT THINK he got it to work. Meaning I dont think the hood would close unless you made the tube too thin thus defeating the purpose. But....if someones got about 100 bucks...and spare weekends, itd be a cheap little project to test out. A filter right behind the upper front grille would get some damn fresh cold air.

, EXCEPT for the Corsa comment. Zoomers and B&B are very good, quality systems. I don't know the current price for a B&B system, but I believe one cna get Zoomers for a cheaper price than Corsa.

I would also probably bag the CAI. The improvement to price ratio is about as bad as one can get...

Re: Got the OK from the Dealer!

So is everyone saying that the 20whp that K&N claims for the CAI on our car is BS?
