Although, I wouldn't expect *that* huge an increase when going from 5W to 10W oil. That's just too small of an increment to be significant. Now, if you had straight 40W or even 50W, I'd expect a significant swing when cold, but not 5W to 10W. A huge swing just seems strange to me. When you have 5W in your car again, glance down and check--I bet it's fairly close in psi to the 10W.
And I believe it to be your imagination that the car is pulling harder. When warm, both oils are operating at 30W. There should be no difference. I have heard of people getting a few 10ths of a second in the 1/4 by changing from, say, 20W/50W to 10W/30W, but you shouldn't see any significant difference when warm. |
