| Re: Will a real 17" spare fit inside the spare hole in an 04 CTS trunk? Thanks for very useful info. The car I bought is a CTS and not a V. I sent this thread to both sections to make sure that I received some info.
Long story short: I bought a regular CTS (sport and luxury). It has 17" wheels, and I want to put a real spare in there. You are right about the scratching because I have squeezed a real spare in my LeSabre, SDV, Taurus, and a few others. Good potential for scratches. As we used to say in half latin and half russian: Semper Gotovi. "Always prepared." I am nutty enough (when I drive across the country on vacation) to take a real spare; then I also take an extra spare tire. If I put the real spare on the ground, then I no longer have a spare. I always worry about losing a tire on a Sat or Sun, when I would have to pay 3 X what it is worth, and even then it might take several hours to find a tire. Interesting thing is: I am 63, and I have had only 1 tire problem on a trip to Corpus (from San Anton). That is a short trip too. Never any problems on any trips across the country.
Again, thanks for help.
