I had an Image Dynamics IDMAX12 with 600 watts RMS free-air a bit over a year ago. Just a warning: free-air is going to bring out some serious rattles in your rear deck, so dampen the hell out of it AND the rear deck cover. I ran that for a few months and then built a custom ported box for it. They both sound amazing, but I didn't go balls out with the deadening on the rear deck, only the doors. Good luck with whatever you end up doing!
Check out the Image Dynamics IDMAX10 and their new IDQ10 v3 coming out in the next month or so. |

My Image Dynamic 10" will be for sale very soon for a very good price. I finished the enclosure for my JL 12w6v2 this weekend. If you want the 10 let me know. I'll send you the MDF plate it is mounted to also. The 500/1 will run it just fine. I've actually got mine running in an 8 ohm load so basically about 250 watts going to the 10. Running the 2 ohm load (500 watts) free air on the ID, Kicker, Infinity, JL...........or most free air 10's they won't like it very much. Let me know.

I hate taking trampy thirds over sloppy seconds.... but I'd be interested also. Looks like my fears about having to damp the hell out of the car when adding a better sub (or should I say, when replacing that krappy excuse for a sub Bose gave us) is true. Hiking up the budget....

I'm attaching a link to the place I actually bought mine from. They are great to do business with. I bought the dual 4 ohm model (ID10D4 v.3) Any amplifier in the 200-300 watt range will run the driver fine. http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...category_id=23

I evaluaed a free air but my car stero installer emphatically objected, knowing I would not be happy with the performance. There is a reason nobody is making them anymore. I went with a Boston Pro 12 and Rockford Fosgate Punch 360 I had laying around the house from a previous car. I added an Alpine volume controler for the sub. The Boston only needs 1 cubic foot so the boxi is very small. It is tucked in the right corner and I retained the left fold down seat and have unfettered access to the spare since I no longer have runcraps. I removed the stock 10 and use the hole as a port. It slams. Hard. He charged me 3 hours labor and $40 for the volume controler. You already have a good amp. My advisor recommended I reuse my Boston as opposed to selling me something new and I was not really on a budget. I think that says something. |

I put hush mat in the decklind, spare tire well and the sides of the trunk, I have a 500/1 pushing a HO110R-W7. It rocks. The bass is deep and crisp. The hush mat works flawlessly. No rattles at all (except when I opened the sunroof) Bass hitting so hard the roof is flexing. I'm looking on JL's website and they have a new thin line of speakers coming out http://mobile.jlaudio.com/jlaudio_pages.php?page_id=213 |
