Need Solution to Rear License Plate Rattle

As long as we're on the subject of license plates, has anyone found or devised a remedy to this rattle when closing the trunk lid? I have a decorative bracket around the plate, and it just adds to the annoying rattle.

Re: Need Solution to Rear License Plate Rattle

either put velcro on both the plate and the car OR you can put peices of a mouse pad (from a computer) screwed in behind it....I use velcro

Re: Need Solution to Rear License Plate Rattle

Sometimes I use a piece of foam tape, you just loosen the two screws on the license plate and stick something foamy behind the plate on the bottom then snug up the screws. Not too big, just enough to hold pressure on the plate.

I noticed the same annoying rattle when I installed a metal chrome V-plate frame. When you slam the trunk, the chrome plate frame rattles against the license plate and the car body. Solution: I bought Ultra (brand) #7295 3/8" self-stick heavy duty felt pads from the hardware store. I placed four pads (two top/bottom) on the inside of the frame and four on the backside of the license plate. Rattle gone. Cost: $1.29/pkg 84.

You want the best solution? Dynomat on the back of the plate. Couldn't hear anything with 2 12" subs pounding out 800 watts.
