Done! Easy Breezy!
I installed my UUC Shifter, UUC Bushings and GTO Shift Knob/Boot yesterday. All went well no problems at all. A few notes:
UUC Shifter: Put the car on ramps, removed center console, drilled out rivets from top removed cross-bolt from bottom. Install was reverse of removal.
Replaced the rivets with bolts and lock nuts from kit. The shift assembly dropped down enough that I could get a wrench on the nut and tighten the bolt… all from the top.
UUC Bushings: While the shifter was out I slid the bracket forward and removed the old bushings and installed the UUC Bushings. Before I put in the new bushings I took the advice of others and beveled the leading edge just a bit and lubed up the outside of the bushings well… the rest was just leverage. I found it better to pry the bracket over the new bushings from underneath the car.
GTO/Morano Shift Boot/Knob: As I said before the GTO set up came with a metal shifter attached. It did take a little strength to pull the knob off of it …
…The hole in the GTO knob gets gradually smaller and the diameter is smaller than the shifter end. So the inside of the knob needs to be widen a just a bit it to accommodate the V shifter. I used a rasp bit with my drill and only took a little off. The knob still needs to be pushed on with a lot of force to get it all the way on. I used a small amount of silicon inside the knob before installing it but I don’t know if it needed anything. It is a very tight fit and on extremely securely.
As for the boot I just cut the bottom using the old boot as a guide and put it in the V frame and glued the ends down. It looks factory… well actually better than factory IMO!

note the way the white stitching matches the seats
)
Over all it was a relatively easy mod. And well worth the effort.
It feels like a different car…shifts like a dream!
