The new knob comes attached to a 4" metal shifter shaft. It takes a little work to detach it but once you eat some spinaich you can pull the shaft right out of the knob (with the assistance of a big vice to hold it for you.

) It is pressure fitted and filled with a layer of silicon inside.
I had to trash the plastic frame (that was on the new boot) to free the bottom of the boot. No bid deal it is of no use in this application anyway. Then I used the stock boot as a guide and cut the bottom of the boot the same so it will fit into the stock frame... A little spray adhesive and it looks perfect.
I will attempt the rest of the install today. I plan on boring out the new knob just a bit pressure fitting it onto my UUC shaft. I will use RTV Silicone to insure it says in place.
I don't plan on doing any cutting on my UUC shifter since it was not cheap and I want to be able to regress back to the stock knob if for any reason I don't like the new setup (doubtful).... or I mess up the monaro knob during mods (probable)
