hmm....not too keen on that shifter. I'd call it "the hairy palm" depending on the way you grip it. Different strokes for different folks... no pun intended.

Re: Shifter Knobs

For anyone interested in the monaro knob here is the website and a pic of it. They accept credit cards and you can get it shipped to the states for about 100.00 which includes the boot as well . I am posting this because it took me a LONG time to search the threads for the web address on where to get it, Maybe this can help some who are looking for it.http://www.nvu.com.au/products_singl...ge=3&section=1 I dealt with Jim@motorfield.com.au he was very helpful.

Re: Shifter Knobs

thanks for the find man.... love the stitching and the knob looks more factory CTS-V than the "factory" knob we get, IMHO.

Throwing this down on the already very long list of "like-to-haves"

Cool Re: Shifter Knobs

Anyone looking for a GTO shifter? This guy has them for sale on Ebay and will ship to the USA for around $20 AU.
http://search.ebay.com.au/_W0QQsassZjasesv8QQhtZ-1

I ordered one today and he has been very prompt with email replies. I have a UUC shifter and bushings in a box waiting to be installed. Hopefully it arrives sooner rather than later cuz it is hard not to put in a new toy when it is sittin here begging to be installed!

Re: Shifter Knobs

I have not put mine in yet but it came with a 3 inch metal shaft that the knob sits on and the other end has 2 holes like bolts go thru, I am assuming I pop off the knob like on our cars (discard the metal shaft)and then the "modification" of removing some plastic on the inside begins in order for it to sit down enough. I will post here once I get around to doing it. PS Forgot to mention it looks fantastic!!! and seems to have some good weight to it!!!!

Re: Shifter Knobs

I'm considering the Monaro knob and boot combo, but with the Katech shifter I already bought. It's a short throw shifter. Talk about Sweet! And it's heavy so it won't matter what the weight of the knob is.

I'll post pics once it's installed.

Re: Shifter Knobs

The only thing that turned me to the UUC and not the Katech is no isolation within the shifter which can lead to noises but I dont know how bad it can be.

Cool Re: Shifter Knobs

Just an update. I ordered the Monaro (GTO) shifter from jasesv8on Ebay last week. I was very surprised to find it in my mail box today...It only took 4 Business days to arrive from Australia! Jason answered all my emails very quickly and sent out the shifter the day after I won the auction and paid via Paypal. It ended up costing about $98 US with shipping. (well worth it) The shifter boot and knob are absolutely beautiful! I have my stock boot off right now since I am in the process of installing a UUC shifter and UUC bushings. The knob must weigh at least three times what the stock one does. I haven’t tried the modification necessary to put it on the shifter yet but it looks like it won’t be very difficult. The boot/knob set up match the black interior perfectly. The new shift boot even has an inner boot (with installation) that fits around the shifter shaft …That can only help with deadening any noise. I will post more after the install

Re: Shifter Knobs

The new knob comes attached to a 4" metal shifter shaft. It takes a little work to detach it but once you eat some spinaich you can pull the shaft right out of the knob (with the assistance of a big vice to hold it for you.) It is pressure fitted and filled with a layer of silicon inside.

I had to trash the plastic frame (that was on the new boot) to free the bottom of the boot. No bid deal it is of no use in this application anyway. Then I used the stock boot as a guide and cut the bottom of the boot the same so it will fit into the stock frame... A little spray adhesive and it looks perfect.
I will attempt the rest of the install today. I plan on boring out the new knob just a bit pressure fitting it onto my UUC shaft. I will use RTV Silicone to insure it says in place.
I don't plan on doing any cutting on my UUC shifter since it was not cheap and I want to be able to regress back to the stock knob if for any reason I don't like the new setup (doubtful).... or I mess up the monaro knob during mods (probable)
