    2005 CTS V Rims

    Hey guys

Are the rims on our cars painted or powder coated?

Had new tires installed last week and they chipped and gouged every one of my rims

They will send them out to get refinished

Guess itís a good time for colour change from grey to raven black

regardless of what you're doing to them it'd be best to get them sand/bead blasted, then redone.

i'd vote for powdercoat. it's a bit more resilient than paint.

Mine were just painted, but I'm not the original owner. I assume OEM is paint.

You need to get some of the black center caps to complete the look.

i dislike when the wheels are a darker shade than the tires. it looks wrong. i'd have leaned more towards an anthracite or gunmetal.

The OEM wheels go thru a dipping process. And never sandblast an aluminum rim, creates unknown stress fractures, and can warp. Best thing to do is have them dip stripped. I had that done and then they dipped them in a type of primmer that helped the powder coat stick.
