Taking the Orange out of your lights!!!

OK, well I just got done trying to do this on one of my lights. It aint happening.. lol
I put her in the oven heated it up to 350 degrees, got the lens apart no problem. Now to the part of the lens demise, tried to pry the orange out and ended up cracking the lens. So since it was cracked I snapped it in half to see if they would separate and she does not come apart. So don't bother trying to do this mod unless you know something I don't or you will end up needing a new lens like me.. haha
    Pics in a couple minutes...

Yeah, my work bench is covered with subs and amps and other stereo crap right now. It looked like a better place to lay them out for the pictures then say the hood of the V.. I need to clean my garage, I have crap everywhere and it is getting worse everytime I start working on something else. haha

Thats odd that you couldnt seperate the orange from the cover. Why not get a custom peice made?

I know what you mean. We have an attached 2 car garage and a detached 2 car garage. All told we have room to park one car inside. Guess which one? I do have some very nice storage cabinets in the garages now as da' wife decided to remodel all three bathrooms. I took all the old vanity cabinets out to the garages and installed them there. Very nice. Now if I could just find a place for my 6 sets of tires.

I wonder if the orange layer could be ground out with a dremel sander attachment and the the remaining plastic polished back to a near factory look.

There has to be atleast 20 or more of us that hate the orange lenses. How many lenses would be required to have a shop make some custom clear plastic lenses? I dont like the look of the tinted lenses but I love the way the STS ones look with the clear lenses and the colored bulb.

    Hmm,

I must not be as cool as the rest of you.

I think the orange looks distinctive, and kinda unique to our car.
