I read through this thread and can't quite figure out where the gang is in terms of consensus around a single design. I can say that there were three or four of us at the Phoenix meet who said something like,

"If there were an STS hood for our V's, I'd be in."

    "Me too!"

    "Me too!"

    "Me too!"

iam all for the STS-V style hood, i dunno about all this stuff everyone wants to add, seems a little much, i mean you cant just make the STS-V style so the cowl is open in the rear so the hot air comes out?

As long as it has function, I like the STS-V hood. Does the LS-7 come with it?

    Than I woke up.

I'm game as long as the price is within reason (some of the proposed prices mentioned in this thread seem reasonable) & it reduces the under hood temperatures by a reasonable amount.

Like the sketches, I think we are going Cowl a la STS...with an extractor option. Have to see what the shop says.

I got an e mail from jimmy last night, they want to do the hood. HE asked me if the std CTS uses the same air box?? I dont know...

Also ,he needs a hood. A hood from GM is $310, I dont want to send my OEM hood. Anyone here want to split the cost of this hood with me or divide into thirds? We can have it shipped direct by Vandevere or just have him buy one.
    Comments.?

We also need a commit of 10 units. Any less the price goes up substantially. Right now its around the $6-700.00 mark.
    The specter is double.

The stock CTS box is in the same spot as the V, might not be the exact same box but its in the same spot. I think i can still be in for the hood, well depending on when he'd need the money.

The induction will constitute the use of the Volant box from what I can see, as it has a lid. This can always be done/added later. Pulling air from above is always better than from the engine compartment.

The Volant box will add about $270 to the price.

I think it will make a clean installation. It is possible that you can use the existing air box by using foam and cutting off the top. THen again, if this is for looks, not use the induction at all.

    Re: CTS-CTS-V Hood

Ok guys, put up or shut up. I need 10 hoods. The shop needs $100 each to start. He also needs $300 to buy a hood from the dealer which we have to split. We will have a cowl/STS hood with a heat extraction option. He will mock up a hood for us to comment on before production.

    Who wants to do this??

I will post the company name and phone # you can place a deposit direct.

    Sweet, I'm *almost* in. I need a best guestimate as to the final total cost (e.g. $100 + $30 + ??).

    Thanks for setting this up.
