Stealth gray 05 cts-v repaint to opulent blue thoughts.

Ok so my 05 cts-v was keyed Sunday night and now dealing with this paint ideas. Originally stealth gray which was not my favorite but was very clean. Now I'm thinking of painting the car opulent blue metallic. Whould love to get an idea of what others think. Obviously it's my decision but I don't whant to ruin a perfectly fine cts-v into a nightmare looking pimp car.

If you've never done it, changing colors is a pia to do right. Also, changing colors is a dead give away that the car might have a checkered past even though it did only get keyed. I'd go back stock.

    2005 CTS-V Production numbers, Total units: 4,194
Only 475 stealth gray with ebony interior, 183 stealth gray with Lt. Gray interior and only 45 stealth gray with Lt. neutral interior That should answer your question!

True I do know that this color combination is rare with my interior. But it just doesn't cut it for me. It's a hard choice to make

Interesting numbers. Curious...How many silver with black interior? I bet much more than 45.

I always worry that if you were to get in a fender bender in the future would you be able to get the body shop to match your new color.

I would ask is opulent blue easily matched?

Well I will be buying 1.5 gallons of paint to keep extra that way if it's in a fender bender it would be an exact match.

I worry that any metallic paint can be matched right, especially after its aged 10 years....

I've got a stealth gray 05 with a gray interior and while i'm not that crazy about it (would rather have had a black), it's easy to keep clean and I get a lot of compliments on it. That opulent blue would draw a little too much attention for me....i like being stealthy!

I would agree with 247 on the paint thing. Even with the same color mix in hand to get replacement panels to match up will be a huge pita. Colors like that can be affected by spraying in the opposite direction of original and affecting what happens when light hits it etc.. So I would make sure that is kept in mind if you go that way.

With that said the Stealth Gray is my favorite color on a V, I feel it flows with the body lines the best. My old V was an 05 this color and had it not been for someone deciding it needed to be totaled I would still have it.

Overall the Opulent Blue is a very nice color but wouldn't be my 1st choice if moving away from stock.
