No experience with the $100 spoilers, but the factory spoiler comes with new stronger trunk struts.

Re: anyone have experience with the $100 spoilers?

I got my spoiler off ebay only a few weeks after getting my V (2 1/2 years ago). Pretty sure it was about $100. Paint matched perfectly. It's just made out of plastic, so there's almost no weight to it. No need for beefed up trunk lid shocks. You DO have to drill some 1.5 to 2" diameter holes in the underside of the trunk in order to access where your mounting holes/bolts will be. I just used a regular hole-saw bit for my cordless drill. Also, when you're drilling the holes (and pilot holes) for the mounting bolts in the actual trunk lid, DON'T USE TOO MUCH PRESSURE! Let the bit do the work. If you press too hard (from either side), you may leave a big dip/dent around where you're drilling the hole.

Wow, that's pretty big holes! I may have to have one painted and mounted at the same time. I don't see any that offer red. Have any pictures of the holes and spoiler?

I bought one online, paint matched perfect. I used 3m double sided tape with no screwing holes, and it held up STRONG for years before I lost my 03 CTS. I had it up above 100 on the regular and the spoiler was still on RIDICULOUSLY strong even after the rear end accident. It took me a while to take it off. LOL
