There is no "blue" in these lights, I would call them 5000-5500

Did the mod as well, Great idea! Sorry to wake up an old thread but just wanted to mention that I had to shave down some of the plastic on the new bulb housing to fit properly and seat correctly in the socket. It Wouldnt otherwise. Nothing a dremel tool cant fix

Same here, they are quite bright and a much better color / look for the car.

One of the simultaneously awesome and annoying things about the semiconductor industry is its pace of progress. Unless you're really looking to save a buck, I'd try the 80W 3157 units linked below. They're more expensive, but if you have tinted windows, it's almost impossible to have too much light output back there.

Also, sorry about not warning you guys about sanding down the edges of the housings. I probably did it earlier and totally forgot about it. It's not uncommon to discover that you have to touch up the edges of LED products manufactured in Asia to get them to fit. There *is* a standard for the 3156/3157 housings, but these manufacturers are not as rigidly compliant as you'd probably like.

That's an 80 watt LED? They list that it has 16 led's each @ 5w. That almost sounds unbelievable but maybe I'm way out of the LED loop!

Are the bulbs in this link even brighter ? *I see that the listing "says" they are 100 lumens brighter than the original listing. Curious what the difference is ?

I have a set of these on their way. Hopefully I won't have any problems jamming them in lol.
