I have plans to do that as well when the weather gets warmer / better. Please post the results of changes - time, difficulty, etc. Thanks

Thumbs up Re: Anyone swap out the foglights yet with Silverstars?

I upgraded my driving lights to Sylvania Silverstars 9005's for my foglights. They're 65w vs. the 45w's and have not had any issues yet. Color-wise they are much closer to a true white than the original fogs. I didn't want to go the route of the fake-blue color -- they never seem to match the xenon color. I'm really happy with the less-yellow color and the brighter wattage.

Took maybe an hour. Had to remove the undertray (about 15 plastic clips), then spend a little time on my back under the car. I did not remove the front bumper -- I did weave my hand (kinda difficult) behind the foglight to remove it. I HIGHLY recommend Mechanix-type gloves for this.

I don't drive the car that much (especially at night), so I didn't change the harness.

Summary: they look mucho brighter when I see walk up to it at night.

I walked into Autozone and paid 19.95/ea..they come in a little clear plastic container. Says 9005 right on the box. Right now they come with a 5 dollar rebate per pair....

    Peace

This is a great idea for a low cost improvement to our cars. I'm going to buy a set on the way home from work and hopefully put them on this weekend ,if the weather remains nice.

I changed them last week. Not hard at all, especially if you can get under the car easy (lift). I agree with everything Redline mentioned. I do find the lensecover a little hotter, of course, due to the wattage. The silverstars are 9005 st, like mentioned.

Do make sure that the bulbs feel secure when installed. Try to look in and make sure. My passenger side was secure on my first try. The driver side took a little installing and un-installing to secure. By secure I mean securely in place not loose, in the socket. On my Z my highbeams were not all the way secure and they vibrated slightly whille driving and over bumps. I had to re-install them .

    Good Luck,

Cool Re: Anyone swap out the foglights yet with Silverstars?

I have had Silver Star's in Both my 92 Eldorado and 95 Sedan DeVille.
    They work flawlessly.

Had the Eldorado one's in for 3 years... nice and crisp.

The DeVille has had them for about a year... big difference.

Even went the distance to install a set of clear driving lights that were 5" inch wide, 4" inch deep and 2"inch tall, placed those in the front air dam, mounted and lit with Silver Star's on the DeVille. Talk about lighting... looks tasteful. Only certain editions of the Sedan Deville ordered with the Concours package came with driving lights integrated into the front bumper. Note: not all Concours came with driving lights.

Night time driving is a time to shine... blind all those suv's if you drive a car is what I say.

    Happy Light Trails!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Anyone swap out the foglights yet with Silverstars?

Hey everyone, don't waste your time on the Silverstars. I bought some PIAA for my sons 03 civic and he got one knocked out. We replace the headlamp and put in a Silverstar. It was very yellow compared to the PIAA. They are not much better than the stockers. Plain ole PIAA superwhites make the Silverstars look like candles. Get some better PIAA's and you will have the best. They are expensive but no others really compare, except Hella or maybe Raybrig. I just bought some Nokya and they are pretty good and much less than the PIAA's. I have tried several and the big P's are still the best. You won't be sorry!

The owners manual says the fog light bulbs are 9145. Are the 9005's the same bulb?

Here's some info on those bulbs. If I remember correctly Autozone, R&S Strauss, & PepBoys should have them.

    9005's are 65w, stock fog is 45w. Same size/shape/connections.
