An alternative to clear fogs ;)

I busted my front passenger fog lamp bracket and bulb and, instead of fixing them, I decided to do something I've been thinking about for a while - pull the whole deal and replace them with grilles for future air ducting. (I think someone else has done this - maybe it was yooper?) In the summer, I'll put air ducts behind these. In the winter, I could block them off or leave them as is.

This only took drilling one hole in the bumper on each side to secure the lower part of the screen. The brackets include the lower air ducts, so I used a dremel to cut my (broken) brackets down to just the duct. It connects to the lower bumper using the same 2 bolts they used originally + I connected the top of it to the screen with one more tiny bolt.

I'ts not for everyone and I'm not even sure I'll keep it like this but... I think I will. The only downside: by having the DRLs and fogs off the system, the turn signal do a fast-blink. Ugh, like a busted 1980 ford taurus. THAT'S terrible - I've got to figure out a fix for that.

Looks okay. Would look better if you found a woven mesh to match the grilles.

Clean up the mounting pieces to make them more hidden. Then you should order a set of projectors to hide behind them. Just an idea.

Paint all the metal pieces black, and it'll look much nicer and finished.

Mod your turn signal relay here to eliminate hyper flash.

Yooper had made a similar set for his ducts and the Powell cars used a similar setup with flexible ducting attached directly to it. My carbon fiber setup still uses the lower opening.

So you just don't have blinkers? The DRL is the front turn signal.

Did you put a blinker somewhere else, or am I missing something?

How about turning the little triangle city light in the headlamp into a blinker?

Love this idea! Thanks for the idea, never been a fan of the driving or fog lights, not sure what I would do about turn signals though.

The blinkers are still on the sides of the bumper... Are the DRLs blinkers? I didn't think they were but it'll be easy to check. All the wiring is still in place - it could just be a matter of putting an amber light back there.

The Miata guys have turn signal air intakes (http://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazda...t/30-1051.html) that are a pretty cool idea. I think the turn signal issue is a big one... and I also wonder what it'll do to the air pressure behind the dam at speed...

Your main turn signal is the DRL's, the side markers are just an added bonus but my guess is any cop would nail you for no front turn signals not to mention other people on the street on understanding you are turning. Plus my side markers are hyperwhite lights with smoked lenses, wouldn't work too well. I'll bet you could really easily put a yellow LED or even better a color changing LED bar behind those grills, I put a set of LED fogs behind my lower grill which looks sweet, stealth in the daylight.

retrofit something like this behind there
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/01-05-Ford-R...7483b3&vxp=mtr
then use something like this to mod the wiring from the angel eye for the DRL

order an hid kit and it would all look so saweet

I agree as well, and yea I'd paint those clips black too. Looks cleaner and less noticeable from far away.
