Restoring the lense covers on a 2005 CTS-V

    Hello Fellow Cadaillac Enthusiasts.

I have a 2005 CTS-V with faded HID headlights. They are not cloudy mind you, just faded.
I didn't realize how faded until I had to replace the drivers side headlamp (due to a driveway mishap with an airhead).

So the driver's side is beautiful with a deep gray around the perimeter and the passenger lense is a faded gray.

I imagine those covers can come off to be re-painted on the inside. How difficult is it and is it recommended?
I'd hate to drop $800-$900 on a new passenger light.

    Thanks, Paul

I'd tape it off and paint it black. TBH that's what I'll be doing shortly.

If you're talking about oxidized lenses, you can just sand those out, polish it, and reseal it for UV protection. Mine were in horrible shape when I bought the car, but I sanded them down. I couldn't quite get the result I wanted, so I had a guy I know finish the job I started. The difference was the final polish step. He used a wool cutting pad to return the high gloss and clarity to the lens.

Here's are a couple of the threads I posted in. The first shows my first attempt:

The second shows the results after my buddy finished them off:
