how to: 55w lw beam conversion. lighting gurus please help!

ok im sick of searching. i want a 55w ballast that will plug into the factory harness where do i buy? what else do i need for 55w lows? can i run 55w ballasts on 35w bulbs? i called ddm tuning and they were no help at all. but they did say i can run factory style 35w bulbs w 55w ballasts which i have a hard time believing. do i need some sort of battery harness? whats the easiest and cheapest and fastest way to get this done? I'd prefer replies from people who have done this or can give me definitive, factual answers not just "i think...." lol sorry maybe im just half retarded but i have been searching this for too long with no luck and am annoyed lol. any help would be EXTREMELY appreciated

This doesn't plug into stock harness. I'm not sure if anyone offers an aftermarket ballast to plug into the stock harness. However, this can work.

I think all CTS-V's have HID low beams as stock lights. They are D1S bulbs that have the ballast as part of the bulb. Look for a 55W D1S bulb in whatever color you want. Stock is 4200K. I switched all my lights to 6000K, but I left them all as 35W. This is what a D1S bulb looks like.

is it possible to get to the headlight bulbs to change them out without having to remove the bumper on the V?

I don't even see how that would be possible. I know in the V6s, guys were moving airboxes and pushing the fuse box to the side and all this crazy stuff.

Trust that its easier to remove the bumper to access then to do anything else to get to them.

I mean seriously, that's really sad that cadillac would make it that way just so we have to go back to the dealer if we don't want to do it ourselves.

Alot of cars are like this, including most of the Infinitis, etc.
Adds a new spin to how hard it is to change a light bulb.

As a dealer of hids. Is it true that the d1s bulb has a built in ballast? Or is that just the igniter?
