taped it off since i was doing the lower bumper piece as well.. put some card board behind the grill, you dont want rubber in the rad.. paint on a windless day, less chance for overspray

Re: Let's see if the plasti dip hold's up

you need to just take the pins out of the top grille. Pull it out, then do pull the pins from the inside of the bottom grill. you don't have to take off the front bumper. It's a pain to do it that way

Yesterday I plasti-dipped the wheel covers and chrome side trim on my Cruze. Stuff seems to be decent and we'll see how long it holds up on a beater, lol.

I kept looking at my V thinking of what I could Plasti-dip on it(other than the grille which I like chrome)

Re: Let's see if the plasti dip hold's up

Getting the pins out of the bottom portion of the upper grille, while the bumper is still on, is a pain in the ass because the heads of the pins butt right up against the top of the bumper support beam. Makes them almost impossible to push out. I had to replace a headlight bulb also, so I just pulled the front bumper off when I did mine. If you want to remove the lower grille without pulling off the bumper, you have to remove the plastic underbody panel that sits just below the radiator. That will give you access to the area behind the front bumper to pull the lower grille pins.

just to clarify. its not that hard to remove the grill with the bumper still on.. cant go from the bottom just need to pry the pins out from behind the grill

^ This...... The bottom grille just needs to be angled right when you take all the pins out. Don't let it defeat you

Re: Let's see if the plasti dip hold's up

I did my wheels this weekend, I wanted them semi-gloss so I used the enhancer, it does give it more of a textured look. The wheels looked perfect and were almost satin before the glossifier. If/when I redo them I will just leave them satin. My other mistake was not doing the back side, I was worried about over spray to the front of the wheel but with this stuff it wouldn't have mattered, I should have just done the backs first.
