    Cleaning windows w/ tint

I've heard that using Windex or other window cleaners will ruin the tint. Is this true? If so, what should I use? As some of you know, I had my windows tinted the other day and the inside of the windows are full of drip marks and are just plain filthy. How should I go about cleaning them? Thanks in advance.

Amonia is harmful to window tint. Look for something at the store that says it is safe for tint right on the label. For the past ten years I've used both Zaino Z6 and Eagle One.

Also, you need to give the film 72 hours to cure. Try to keep it in direct sunlight as long as possible. Or some nice halogen spotlights at close range works. Don't touch, clean or do anything to them that first 72 hours.

You shouldn't clean them for about 30 days. If you need to, spritz a light amount of water and use a cotton cloth lightly.

And like Stealth said, no ammonia......ever.

Never Use Windex or any other cleaning product for the inside of tinted windows. Ever see the tinted windows that look purple or blue-ish? It's from the windex.

If water alone does not clean the stains/marks, use water and baby shampoo wiping with clean paper towels.

I just read your post after I just cleaned my windows with the stuff StealthV suggested. Did I do damage to the tint? It was installed 5 days ago.

Nah, you're fine. You'd know already if you had issues. The waiting period is to allow the adhesive of the tint film to properly adhere to the glass. After 5 days, the adhesive is most likely setup quite well. If it wasn't, you would have noticed the film move when you were cleaning.

Advance Auto sells "non ammonia" window cleaner. I'm sure it's available at most auto parts places. It's also inexpensive.
