Backwards shift pattern on UUC knob??

So I called up UUC to get a shift knob and all they had left was the O-ring style. I was wanting the leather one but they are on extended backorder, i.e. no longer produced. The knob came pretty quick like and upon opening the box I notice the shift pattern on top has the reverse machined into the left side instead of the right side. Also the rubber o-rings are a little cracked which leaves me to believe that it's been sitting on the shelf for some time. The o-rings don't bother me that much as I can replace them, but the backwards shift pattern is kinda lame. I've not called them yet as it's far too late after closing. Any ideas of what I should do with it?

I'm thinking that all that they have in stock is all that will ever be left and I probably won't have a chance of getting a corrected one. I realize it's not that big of a deal as the weight of the knob is worth way more than a little cosmetic issue.

Does anyone have an idea on what I could cosmetically do to the knob such as machine the top off and replace with something?

It's kind of strange because all the pics I see on the forum and UUC's website show it as having the pattern correct.

I'd send it back. That's not what you paid for.

Any other shift knobs out there that are comparable in weight to the UUC one? I've got a UUC short shifter too if that matters for compatability. I know of the Holden and V2, but have no idea on how the weight is. They look badass, but I'd prefer the heavier weight over looks.

I think that shift knob is not for the Tremec trans.
Isn't that the pattern for the standard CTS w/manual trans.

I'm with Deedubb. Send it back!

Gotta send a picture to them before they do anything. Now I'm at work and don't have the knob or camera with me. And the weekend will eat up two days

Re: Backwards shift pattern on UUC knob??

    UPDATE: Nothing!!!

I sent an email on 10/15 (Fri) to Rob at UUC. No reply. So I called the company and spoke with Rob on 10/22 (next Fri.) asking about what was up with my order. He told me he never received the email which is believable as the pics I sent may have been too large; they sent out without error though. I resized the pics down to ~90K and sent the email again on 10/23 (Sat.) Now it is 10/29, six days later and still no reply. WTF up with that customer service??? I was thinking UUC should be a pretty respectable company. I can't believe I didn't get some resolution on this as I received a defective made product that I want to return for a refund. I'm going to call tomorrow and speak to someone else if I can.

It seems odd your having issues with uuc customer service as in the past many have praised them on their customer service. I would have resent e-mail while I was on the phone and had him confirm reciept or non reciept since e-mail in instant no need to wait hours or days. Have you checked with Luke to see if he has any and if his are correct? If I am correct you have almost infinite choices on handles for UUC shifter as the knob you have has a set screw to hold it on. So any knob with set screw should work fairly easy if you decide to just return it and go elsewhere.

Still no reply from UUC. I didn't have my phone at work on Friday so I couldn't call them. I believe they are closed on the weekends, but I'll still give it a shot. I think about the only thing left I can do is contact the Better Business Burea and hope they can help.

Re: Backwards shift pattern on UUC knob??

It's been 3 emails now and 3 phone calls with no resolution. I had spoken with someone who told me that Rob, the salesman, was on the phone in his office and that the someone would deliver a message about my concern to Rob. Two full days have gone since my last attempt. I don't understand how a company can remain in business if they won't even acknowledge customer complaints, especially when the complaints are justified.

I cannot even send it back for a refund if I wanted to. They won't acknowledge me at all.

Anyone have experience in a similar situation? I'm not sure how I can go about getting my money back. I'm thinking the BBB would be rather slow in helping resolve this.

At this point I'd call and get the highest ranking person there on the phone and not give up till I got someone who handles the situation this is a small issue to them and should have been easily rectified by now. If that does not work. Did you buy on a credit card and do the have a purchase protection plan you can use to dispute the charge?

Re: Backwards shift pattern on UUC knob??

You're right that this is a small issue to them. It should take them 5 minutes or less to handle my concern as it's visible on the picture I sent. It reflects badly on a company when the sales people can't take the time to help the customer. I sent an email off late last night to Kate, the company president I think, instead of Rob the salesman. Surprisingly she responded to me about 11:30ish pm and said she will be shipping me a tracking label this morning. It's kind of sad that I had to go to the top management just to get things done. It may sound silly but I didn't think about disputing the charges with my credit card. I purchase a fair amount of stuff on credit and this is perhaps the first time I ever had an issue with a vendor so it didn't come to mind talk with the credit company. Thanks for mentioning that, I'll be doing it if this doesn't work out.

Was there any response to a charge back to your card or are they going to send you a tracking label, to send it back, but no new shift knob?

I would verify if a charge back was done. If not, then call your card company to 'put it in dispute', so you will not have to pay finance charge on said merchandise.

The salesman will probably be called to the office, since top management is involved.
I hope it works out for you.

Re: Backwards shift pattern on UUC knob??

I got a return label by email which I need to print out and stick to the box. In the email, it said that she found an unused one in a display case that she would ship to me at no charge. I'm not sure if that means the knob is free or the shipping is free. Either way, the whole situation left a bad taste in my mouth and I don't really want to accept something for nothing without paying for it and working for it. I'll be looking around and I think I found something else I really like.

hmm. I need to drive up to their office and see what other goodies they might have sitting in their display case collecting dust.
