Finally got my Specter Werkes hood installed on my V tonight with the help of a few fellow V owners. I've actually had this in my garage since April, but unfortunately it was damaged in shipping and went straight to the bodyshop to be repaired. In shipping, all four corners were worn down to the fiberglass, as if someone just DRAGGED the hood across the pavement. There were also quite a few chips. After that, it became a matter of fighting with the shipping company over the money, etc. This thing is not cheap to repair, that's for sure
But finally it's on, and I must say I am very happy with the final product. Car definitely looks more aggressive. All in all it was a very straight forward install. All that needed to be done was to swap the chrome trim from the old hood, swap a few things (window washers, undertrim) and unbolt the four bolts that hold the hood down. The rest was playing around with the gaps on each side. The gaps on the hood are close to stock, but I may take it to a bodyshop soon and have them throw a few shims in and make it perfect. We tried our best, and it is definitely not easy to get those gaps perfect, even with a lot of time spent and a few guys.
All in time for the hot weather (100+ in NJ these past few days). Hopefully this hood combined with my 160 degree stat will keep the LS6 running nice. Oh and it looks pretty cool by the way too Pics are below. Better shots to come, once I get it outside. These are right after we finished (around 9 o'clock). Now all I need are some power adders to back up this new aggressive look the car has
Shout out to Shady and Mickey for lending me a hand. Let me know what you think.
