I would think this has been answered somewhere already, but in my searching all I find is discussion of HID conversions and different fog light options.
I've got my bumper pulled off right now to get the grilles coated, and while I'm at it I installed some 9005 Silverstars in the high beams. I was disappointed at how yellow they look compared to the low beam HIDs. The Silverstars I have in the fogs don't look that bad - maybe it's just the proximity of the high and low beams that makes the color mismatch more apparent? Anyway, before I put things back together I'm hoping I can find some high beam bulbs that are a closer match to the HIDs (and to the LEDs I've got in the corners).
The Silverstar bulbs are supposed to be 4100K I think. Has anyone tried the Ebay 5000K or 6000K 9005 bulbs? That's probably what I'll end up doing, but it would be nice if someone had already been down that path and could give some feedback.

Well, I decided to splurge on some Ebay-tastic 7000K bulbs. They may be too blue, but based on how much more yellow the 4100K Silverstars were compared to the 4300K factory HIDs, I figured I'd go a bit high on the K rating. |

Definitely better than the Silverstars. I took a couple comparison pictures and will have to get them off the camera later this evening - not sure how well they'll show the difference, but we'll see.
I don't use the high beams much at all, so I'm hoping this will last a while (despite the fact they're generic Ebay bulbs). Replacing them is such an unnecessarily complicated pain in the ass I'd rather not have to do this again any time soon! |

How do people get good pictures of headlights without all the glare? Anyway, you can kind of see in the pictures that the passenger side (7000k) is pretty much all the same color, while the driver side (Silverstar) has some yellow tinge to it. In person it's much more apparent, particularly if you stand up directly in front of the car so that all you see are the reflectors (as opposed to seeing the bulbs). |

Since I was (1) replacing bulbs in both lights, and, more importantly (2) pulling off the grilles to get them powdercoated, I pulled the bumper off entirely. |
