I know the common wisdom on this forum is that the factory air box flows fine and should be left alone. However, the guys at Lingenfelter and K&N obviously believe there is some sort of gain to be had from running an open element filter with a cold air wall. They are leaders in the performance parts business, I don't think they got to where they are by selling snake oil. I have to trust that they know what they're talking about.
So if you offer a CF cold air wall, I will get that as well, provided it doesn't raise the price through the roof. If you don't offer one, I will run a K&N drop-in in my factory box or get the LPE piece to go with your CF tube. |

I would think a 4" silicone coupler will be needed at both ends to join the intake tube. So, one would think that the R&D guy would consider this when fabbing.
I cut my stock box up an dropped in a K&N panel. No issues and pleased with that type of setup. Just making a great tube with the 90 bend would work with all the different setups. HMMM carbon fiber stock box with cutout, jk. Put me on the list for the tube.

I guess once we get this done we can look into things like FRCs and splitters or front lips and who knows what else. I don't doubt we can get 15 to buy an intake tube and everyone knows the stocker is not the best design. I saw half that before anyone knew it was available. I certainly agree about having room to put a flexible coupler on both sides. The Volant is pretty much a flat coupler and works...although I would like something with more room to move and install.
This guy wants to make this affordable and successful. As you can see from the gallery that once a few parts were produced in the bmw world that they latched on and made tons of parts. Of course they saw value/$.
What type of box would we want as an option for the folks that would want the whole kit? LPE style or stocker style? |

a tube and cf stock box top or a tube and improved cf stocker style, but I am having great results with this mod and would be nice to improve on this style setup with a ram air in the front grill area. Seems like a no brainer. |

I have a lingenfelter box with stock pipe ( LS2 ) I also saw that the stock pipe had some kind of sensor wire thing attached to it. I would like to know if that could be incorporated into the CF pipe? Also I would like you to look into some simple exterior pieces. |
