For those with tinted/clear side markers/fog lights.....

Remove this ad
....did you replace the yellow bulb in the side marker with clear one? I installed the tinted side markers from ebay over the xmas break, yet I didn't realize that the bulb was yellow too. So, at night the light still emits yellow....looks kinda goofy.

Also, I have the clear fog light lenses sitting in my garage, and I'm just looking to have time to take out my fogs and do the procedure correctly to seal the housing. Is there also an amber light in the top of the foglight housing, or is it just the lens that is amber?

Thanks guys!

Re: For those with tinted/clear side markers/fog lights.....

The DRL is a clear bulb behind an amber lens. The old SML was the same, clear bulb behind an amber lens, but they include an amber bulb so old people can see you at night!

I would try to find an LED replacement for the side markers

I use a white LED for the side markers and a Sylvania Silver bulb for the DRL's/Turn Signal.

Thanks Vecstasy, do you happen to know the part numbers that you used? From searching, I got several different numbers for the side marker and drl replacement bulbs.

A 194 bulb.

It is the top set of bulbs. I bought just the single LED ones. Part number WLED-W

Was the 194 for just the side marker? What did you use for the DRL after putting the clear lens one?

I got my side marker lenses from the guy on Ebay (just search for CTS side marker), and my clear fog light lense from YourGMSolutions, but I think he went on hiatus again, so those may be a bit trickier to get.

The side marker lenses require no modifications, as they come fully assembled and are just plug-n-play. The fog lights are a different story. You have to remove the lens from the stock housing and replace it with the new lens...which requires baking the housing in order to get the old lens off, and "gluing" the new lens on with an epoxy of some sort. I still haven't tackled the fog lights yet.
