Question 17" wheels on a V?!?

Remove this ad
Browsing through CTS-V parts on eBay I found this listing for a set of 17" wheels. As you can see, the ad says they're 17x7.5" and that they came "from a used CTSV". I already sent them a message thru eBay to ask if they can confirm that.

Does anybody recognize those wheels? Are they SRX wheels? If they would actually fit the V I'd love to have one of those as a "full size" spare, since the actual full size spare (a slightly beat up stock wheel with a 225/50-18 tire on it) I'm carrying around really doesn't fit the spare tire well. Something like a 215/55-17 would fit the diameter and depth of the spare tire well much better.

Re: 17" wheels on a V?!?

51mm offset wouldn't make it on the V. Might be a typo.

The bolt pattern for the srx/V are the same...it wouldn't clear the calipers...

I would tend to agree. Compared to stock wheels the backspacing is fine, but these would be sucked in nearly an inch.

I agree, that big an offset doesn't give much confidence that the spokes would clear the Brembo calipers. As for the bolt pattern, I realize they're the same, hence my question about whether or not they were SRX wheels. The ad actually says "CTS-V SRX" in the title, but then the write-up of the ad says the wheels came off a used CTS-V.

I'm still curious if anyone recognizes the wheel design. I could easily carry around a 1" bolt-on spacer along with the spare wheel. If I knew the wheels were from an SRX I could at least try to find one to experiment with.

Someone already said it....it won't clear the calipers...don't waste your money..

Stock wheels barely clear the calipers.

With the stock wheels, the smallest diameter portion of the barrel is right in line with the rotor and caliper, which is why the fitment is so tight. Whether a 17" wheel would clear the brakes would depend on the construction of the wheel. I've measured the inner diameter of one of the 17" wheels off one of my other cars and (assuming it had a 6-lug pattern) I think it would clear. I know of 16" wheels that will clear the 13" Brembo brakes on the 2000 Cobra R, and 16" wheels that will clear the 12.8" Brembos on the WRX STI, so it stands to reason that adding an inch to both the rotor diameter and wheel diameter would yield the same results.

Now, if someone has already tried the 17" SRX wheel, with a spacer to allow for caliper/spoke clearance, and it doesn't work, feel free to let me know this is a lost cause.
