In which case, the Red EET might be best.
I'm also thinking Spiders could look cool in the Mid Tails. | I could throw it in there to see how it looks, but I was going to go with a red LED for those bulbs... don't know if the white will look right... but I'll try it out anyway! |

Bossplayer said these needed no modification and are 44 x 10.5 http://www.superbrightleds.com/specs/RL4410-xHP9.htm
While the Rigid loop smt is 44 x 10 and needs modification http://superlumination.com/festoon.htm
Lunarx what part did you need to trim?
My current living arrangement is not very conducive to making modifications so the less cutting/trimming the better.

Again, you don't trim the car.
What you do rim is the bulb.
A small file is probably the best way to do it.
The back of the lamp shell (bottom side in pic w/ dimension 29.25 & vent holes) needs to be trimmed down to a width of 28.0mm.
(mine only measured 28.5mm originally and only needed .5mm trimming)
Simply file each of those 2 corners down a little bit so the lamp can drop further into the cars socket.
The lamp fits, without filing, but it wont be mechanically clipped in.
It's because at 29.25mm the lamp housing won't seat deep enough into the socket.
As a result the spring clips don't clear the loop and thus don't spring out to lock the lamp in.
That touch of filing on the lamp shell solves the minor issue.
You could file the socket instead but I rather file a $8 LED than any part of my car.

Name/size/placment Not sure about this one... really interested in seeing how this compares to the 57-LED I ordered off eBay... hopefully it shows up tomorrow!
Anywho...
Definitely NOT as bright as stock (which was the "warning" all along). Very sharp details and great color...
This is a shot of the lights shadowing my camera... notice the "sharpness" of the camera shadow on the right (that's the LED's throw off) versus the blurriness of the left shadow (that's the incandescent throw off)
My camera is not good in low lights, sorry... but...
Here's just the LED:
And here's just the stock incandescent:
In the end... the stock is a lot brighter... and makes a HUGE difference when looking through tinted windows... The LED is VERY directional... it lights up straight out, and that's it... the incandescent throws light all around... but that's all in the design of it, so I can't really complain...
Damn... I was hoping this would be open and shut... Damn... |

So how do those EET's look in the Tails?
(Upper and Mid)
Tails are next on my to do list. |

Anyway...
Got these today in the mail
Had to take the dremel to them since the base was just a millimeter or so too wide to fit in the socket... took me 2 minutes to fix...
Need to wait until it's dark out to really tell (I know, another tease )... but in the dark garage, they look to be MUCH brighter and a more dispersed pattern than the Towers that are in there now...
Can't wait until 8:00 when it's dark out!!!
I'll post more pics in a few hours... |

I know I get the headlight warning in the garage.
Effectively it must be dark.
My question was more disbelief.
However, you confirmed so, I believe it.
Now, I'm thinking it might have something to do with the Convinience Features set in the NAV.
For instance, do you have Headlights set to turn on with UnLock? |

Name/size/placment Just to let everyone know, I ordered all my LED's from autolumination.com When I opened my box, I got my 3157's and all my 194's but no festoon bulbs. I emailed them and they were very helpful and quikly shipped out my missing festoon bulbs from the order. Just want to say thanks to a merchant who stands behind there orders. They could have made it very difficult for me, yet they were very easy to deal with.
I would highly reccomend them for all your orders of LED's. Thanks again Tracy!

Hopefully they arrive by the weekend. I will install the festoons in the footwells and be done with the interior.
I still need to find someone to install the corners in my headlights. If anyone is in MI and willing to help, let me know I pay with beer, liquor or greenbacks.
I also have a couple of 194 5 led matrix bulbs and a couple spare 8-LED festoons if anyone in the area wants to upgrade. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
