The very cheap plastic frames are painted, my grills are powdercoated. After two years there are some chips, but not enough to make me want to get them re-painted. I have no regrets, do it, you'll like it.

You will probably get quotes of up to $100 for both grills, so try to negotiate down to $50.00. You will probably have to wait a few days, unless your powdercoater is using black on the day you inquire. I had the options for three different types of black (one was flat, one was high gloss, I forget the other one), so find a powdercoater with such. The frames were done gratis, but given the small area, about $50-$100 sounds right.
