| Re: Boooo, got a ticket I agree that a policeman is only enforcing the law, he does not make them. I have had three cars without front plates a 2007 Charger SRT-8, an 05 CTS-V and a 2008 Z06. I keep the plates in the car and I keep them a little dirty (except for the Z, it stays clean). When pulled over in the Charger or CTS-V, I just say that I had noticed tonight that one of the screws for the plate was missing and I was afraid that it would fall of, so I took it off until I could get a new screw tomorrow. In the Z, I have a removable plate bracket and I just explain that I had come from a car show and had forgot to put the front plate back on and "if you would like officer, I can do right now". The officers have always been receptive to this and I have never gotten a ticket for it. Besides, being from New York, on the cars that I do have front plates on the first thing I do when I cross the state line is take it off. It seems if you have a New York plate it is a police magnet. The only time I ever got a plate relatred ticket was in of all things a 1994 Cadillac Deville. I had clear plastic shields over the plates to keep them nice and clean (for 12 years i must add). Got a ticket in a park and ride lot, turns out to be illegal in New York. They think you are doing it so they cannot get a picture of your plate. |
