Unfortuately, most modern vehicles are so complex that self-repairs are not the norm; and many less-than-the-most-complex seem to cost ~ $2,000 US

Our previous Oldsmobile went 50,000 without a hitch; then a cruise control repair at 62,000 (was ~ $1,800 + rental); next a trans repair at 65,000 (was ~$2,000, on road so had a rental ~$1,000 both on GMPP); then A/C valve repair at 76,000 (~ $1,000 on GMPP) so the then $1,500 84 mo/ 84,000 mi GMPP was a very good deal for us ($0.00 charge to us).
No other repairs except brakes & tires when trade in at 114,000 mi.

We bought GMPP for our SRX (~$3,000 for 84mo/84,000 mi) when taking delivery and have not used it yet (53 mo gone), so who can recommend yes or no.
