I am having a problem with the front tires cupping. The noise is so loud on some roads you can not hear the radio.
The first set was the orginal Pirelli run flat, They were noisey at 4500 miles and we put up with them until 15,000. I replaced them with Dunlap road racers. At 4000 miles they are as bad as the Pirelli.
I met a 2006 sts v owner and he is having the same problem within 15,000 miles and two sets of tires.
We both have had 3 alignments at $100.00 each.
Maybe Cadillac needs to address this.
Has anyone else had the same problem?
Otherwise i love the car |
My OEM Pirellis lasted about 18K miles and were shot, but not really cupped.
I replaced those with Goodyear F1 AS. Those tires cupped HORRIBLY and I ended up replacing them after 15K miles as they were just too noisy. I don't think it was the STS-V specifically that caused the issue with cupping, because we also have an STS4 that is driven primarily by the other half. I made the mistake of putting the same Goodyear F1 AS tires on that car, and they also cupped. They have lasted a little longer as that car is not driven as aggressively, but they have still cupped and become noisy leading to much bitching at me for suggesting those tires. Reading the more recent reviews for this tire on the Discount Tire web site shows others complaining of the same issue.
I put Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires on the STS-V this time and have driven about 2000 miles on them so far. Out of the box, they are superior to the Goodyears (in my opinion), and I'll see what the treadlife is like. These come with a treadlife warranty so if they wear out too soon, Discount Tire will replace them supposedly.
When the time comes, I'll probably put those on the STS4 as well.
