I have toyed around with this idea myself. I would really like to add a tach to my Fleetwood but do not want the tuner look or some giant ugly gauge stuck to my dash. I though it would be really cool to put it in the ash tray and have it pop up when I slide the tray out. That way I could fold it down into the ash tray and it would not be visible. Like you I think it would be awesome if I could find one with a green digital readout, but its not easy to locate.
