The design accuracy of the TPMS system is +or- 0.1PSI. The discrepancies come from the fact that the TPMS doesn't update until the car is moving 20MPH and by that time the heat is already going up in the tires, raising the pressure. If I carefully set the cold tire pressures with an accurate gauge before ever driving, the first update on the TPMS after I start driving agrees exactly.
