If I were one gm's design managers, then I would instead use the Lambda frame then modify the frame to make the frame higher to the ground. That way, the height would be the same and there would be better leg room and space in the interior. If GM were to go with the lambda frame, then gm could say good-bye to my wallet and hopefully lose customers and realize what they did was a big mistake! Hopefully GM reads this letter.
I agree, I wouldn't be buying an Escalade on the Lambda setup.
I only have an Escalade because they offer it in the EXT setup.
I bought it because it is a "truck" with Luxury and the best riding truck I've ever owned and I think the same goes for any of the Escalade versions.
If I only wanted a fancy cool vehicle slightly smaller in size.. there are plenty to choose from, but that's not what I wanted in a vehicle.
As for your thoughts on GM changing the Lambda frame if made into an Escalade.
You have to realize, the reason GM might do this is because they think more people will want it the way the Lambda is already setup. No changes.

If they have to change the frame to make it bigger and better, they will be defeating their purpose and making it into what they already have, a real Escalade and it will be counter productive.
They don't want to change the frame because it's something already in production.
No new tooling or expense required etc.

The problem I see with using the Lambda setup is even if they put a V-8 in them it will be a smaller one.
It may still be able to tow a lot of weight but will not be able to tow it the way the current Escalades can tow now, regardless of whether it can tow the same amount of weight or a little less.
It's just a simple fact that with a smaller engine in a large vehicle it will suffer in gas mileage and more importantly the "ease' with which it can haul weight.
Towing or other wise.
EPA "estimates" might be great with only a driver, but once 3-4 people are inside and or a load, it is not going to compare to what the current Escalade is capable of.

I do think a Lambda Escalade will appeal to a lot of people and with fold flat rear seats it will be a nice thing.

But anyone like us wanting a full size Luxury vehicle I am afraid we'll be out of luck.
And let's not forget, GM will be designing something they "Think" we will want only to improve sales.
Who knows, only time will tell and GM might do something we all like
