Any player I own is kept as long as it lasts or until some nifty new thing comes out and I replace it with it.
Right now the advantage of the PS3 is you get the gaming console, media player, web surfing device, and a blu-ray player for not much more than a player costs by itself and you get to play The Force Unleashed.
