I've never had a problem with oil consumption with any other car I've ever owned, so since I've owned the SRX since new, I never checked the oil, just brought it in for oil changes whenever the indicator told me to, between 0% and 20% oil life.
I happened to check it before a long trip and it was 2 quarts down after 4,000 miles. Now I'm wondering if I've been 3 down in the past ?? The car has 48,000 miles on it and it's coming off lease and I was thinking of buying it. Now that I've just discovered the the low oil level and the consumption, I don't know if that is a good idea anymore. I haven't had any other problems.
Is this a problem with all SRX's ?? Just a few ?? It's a 2005 V-6 AWD.
