The cradle has very soft mounts in this car for ride quality purposes. The Kars kit bolts to the cradle in two locations, and the bottom of the rockers to tie them together, and reduce the ability for the cradle to move around so much. The KARS kit at the same time reduces the amount of movement from the diff, via the pinion support, while at the same time not being too rigid. When things are too rigid, they break. When things are to soft, they are able to bounce around too much. The movement throws camber, caster, and most importantly toe out during heavy load. There is no stability. The KARS kit should work well in most, if not all conditions by introducing the much needed stability under heavy load. On my IRS street/drag car, that weighs 3400lbs with driver, I am able to cut 1.31 short times with a few little tricks and the correct alignment for that situation. I actually toe the rear tires out 1 degree because during heavy acceleration they toe back it that far. The only rubber bushings that remain in the car are those at the upper and lower control arms, and the toe links. Rear end and cradle are solid mounted.
Hope the explanation makes sense.

I was considering BMR or KARS or ? Saw my KARS on eBay last October and snagged it. Paid about the same as if it was new from Doug. Debated about installing it, then decided to go ahead this past April prior to Summit Point.
Chris' video (as do other vids) shows not even a hint of WH from my casual observance. But, what if you put on some sticky tires? What if there was some sticky pavement? What if the temperature was high? ... low? ... worn tires? ... wet pavement? ... and on and on. When I was stock, mine would hop on wet pavement and even on a bit of ice! That was with nearly virgin F1 runflats. There's just a lot of variables involved ... it'd be nice to be able to understand the whole thing better, that's all.
(No, you didn't sound rude at all. Hope I didn't/don't.) |
