I am in the Chicago area as well

, and have the same dilema. I want the paddle shifters, but do not want the 18s and tight sport suspension either. How badly will the tight suspension affect winter driving. I would be happy with 17 alloys and get a 20in set for the summer. My AWD Jag X-type is great in the snow and I would like the same out of a CTS4. I wanna trade the cat in for the CTS4

. I think the base suspension would best for me.
