I am not endorsing Leakpro but the rationale proposed may have some value...
Mine was fixed in one visit by the dealer. He said all they did was replace the rear seal. Perhaps there has been a design change to the replacement seal that accomidates for the small hole at the bottom as described above.
Don't know, but it's a thought. Could it be this simple?
