Someone correct me if I'm wrong or leave anything out, but the Torque Converter Clutch kicks in in your O/D gear and is what provides your highway fuel eceonomy. Usually it's the TCC solenoid that goes bad on these cars. Lucky for you it's $150 at a trans shop. Don't let anyone flush your trans fluid either, it's usually the first thing they wanna do. If the TCC itself is shot then I believe you're up for a rebuild. Most likely the solenoid though.......
